meet the artist
Welcome to my site! I am a Michigan based resin artist and creative who has always found joy in expressing myself through creative form. In my younger years, while I enjoyed an abundance of arts and crafts, my expression came largely through watercolor painting. In fact, I even sold some of my paintings while still in high school. As an adult, my creative pursuits took a different path when I spent two decades working as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst in New York City and the Metro DC area. While not considered a traditionally artistic role, this profession allowed me to engage both the analytical and artistic sides of my brain by creating visually appealing maps to support cartographic projects for my colleagues. As the saying goes in cartography, "map making is not art, but there is an art to it!" Aside from occasional forays into knitting and costuming, this role helped satisfy my need for creative expression during that chapter of my life, but it wasn't enough. I longed for art to become a bigger part of my life’s journey.
Then in 2021, I discovered the captivating resin geode artwork of Rochonda Ferrelli, and in 2022, I was thrilled to attend one of her Magnetic Geodes Mentorships in Sunrise, Florida. Traveling solo from Michigan, it was truly a journey of the body and of the soul for me. With an academic background encompassing a double major in Earth Science and Geography, as well as a minor in Geology, I was excited to learn a way to combine my love for earth forms, geodes, agates, and crystals with captivating artistic expression.
This art, however, transcends mere aesthetics; it is a spiritual practice. While immersed in the creative process, I feel a connection to the universal creative force that flows through all of us, and I am invigorated by the notion that art possesses the power to bridge the gap between the tangible and the ethereal, allowing us to tap into something greater than ourselves. In addition, each piece incorporates genuine crystals renowned for their healing properties and is imbued with intention through the use of Solfeggio frequencies played during the resin pouring process. This is the art I have longed to create.
On a profound level, I am grateful to have discovered and learned this medium. Each day, I find myself in awe of the journey that has led me to this point, allowing me to channel my creativity into these unique pieces. My heart swells with appreciation for all the individuals who have supported and encouraged me along this path, from my mentor, Rochonda, who guided my early steps to the viewers who are moved by my work. Lastly, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to share and inspire others through my art. Knowing that my creations might spark a moment of wonder, a sense of peace, or a connection to one's own spiritual essence is the greatest reward. Truly. <3
